Abstract

Wenige Wochen vor den Europawahlen wächst die Sorge vor dem Einfluss von Desinformation und Hassreden im Internet. Auf europäischer und globaler Ebene gibt es diverse Bemühungen, die Verbreitung von falschen oder diffamierenden Inhalten durch neue Normen und wirksamere Mechanismen zur Normdurchsetzung einzudämmen. Matthias C. Kettemann bewertet diese Initiativen im Global Governance Spotlight 2/2019 aus völker- und menschenrechtlicher Perspektive und schlägt Leitlinien für eine menschenrechtssensible Regulierung sozialer Medien vor.
