Abstract

Negative Beschäftigungseffekte betreffen Männer noch stärker als Frauen. - Bis zum Jahr 2050 wird sich der Anteil der Bevölkerung in der Altersgruppe 80+ verdoppeln. Gleichzeitig steigt die Nachfrage nach Langzeitpflege stark an. Pflege durch Familienangehörige spielt in Deutschland eine große Rolle. Für die Soziale Pflegeversicherung ist sie deutlich günstiger als die Betreuung in einem Pflegeheim. Neue Forschungsergebnisse des RWI zeigen nun, dass dabei Langzeitkosten vernachlässigt werden: Kümmern sich ältere Erwerbstätige um ihre Eltern, geht das zulasten ihrer Berufstätigkeit. Die Beschäftigungswahrscheinlichkeit von Pflegenden sinkt, für Männer stärker als für Frauen. Dies sollte bei Überlegungen zu den politischen und finanziellen Rahmenbedingungen für künftige Pflegeerbringung berücksichtigt werden.
