Regionalflughäfen sind keine Wachstumsmotoren für das Umland

Abstract

Regionen mit und ohne Flughafen zeigen nach extern motivierten Ausbau-Investitionen im Durchschnitt ähnliche wirtschaftliche Wachstumsraten. - Alle Regionalflughäfen in Deutschland sind defizitär und werden jährlich durch öffentliche Gelder unterstützt. Befürworter dieser Subventionen argumentieren mit Wachstumsimpulsen, durch welche die umliegende Wirtschaft von den Investitionen ebenfalls profitiere. Eine RWI-Analyse, welche die Möglichkeit einer entgegengesetzten Wirkungskette ausschließt, zeigt jedoch: Solche positiven Wachstumseffekte für die Region lassen sich nicht feststellen.
