Komplementäre Standortentscheidungen und die räumliche Verteilung der Produktion

Abstract

Verschiedene Verbindungen zwischen lokalen Kapitaleinheiten können Komplementaritäten in den Standortentscheidungen begründen: Skalenerträge und Spillovereffekte, Input- Output-Beziehungen bei Transportkosten und EinkommenskreislaufefTekte. In einem stilisierten Modell wird ihr simultaner Einfluß auf die Rendite lokalen Kapitals untersucht. Anschließend werden die Konsequenzen für die räumliche Verteilung der Produktion diskutiert. Anhand einer Zeitpunktaufnahme der Verteilung der Beschäftigung im Verarbeitenden Gewerbe in den alten Ländern der Bundesrepublik wird dann die Bedeutung für die empirische Verteilung der Produktion analysiert. Zwar können die Gründe für die Komplementaritäten anhand des Datenmaterials nur unvollständig getrennt werden, dennoch zeigt sich eine signifikante Erklärungskraft des theoretischen Modells für die räumliche Verteilung der Produktion.
