Keine Angst vor Robotern: Beschäftigungseffekte der Digitalisierung - eine Aktualisierung früherer IW-Befunde

Abstract

Welche Auswirkungen die Digitalisierung auf die Beschäftigungsentwicklung haben wird, bleibt eine offene Frage. Dies ist das Ergebnis der vorliegenden empirischen Analyse. Ein systematischer Trend ist weder auf Unternehmens- oder Branchenebene noch auf Berufsebene feststellbar. Zumindest lässt sich konstatieren, dass sich keinerlei Belege für die populäre Hypothese finden, dass die Digitalisierung zu einem massiven Beschäftigungsabbau führen wird. Auswertungen mit dem IW-Personalpanel signalisieren, dass zwar der Anteil der stark digitali-sierten Unternehmen 4.0, die in den letzten Jahren Beschäftigung aufgebaut haben - zum Beispiel gut 50 Prozent in den Jahren 2014 bis 2016 - bzw. einen Beschäftigungsaufbau im laufenden Kalendarjahr planten - zum Beispiel knapp 32 Prozent in 2017, gegenüber den entsprechen-den Anteilen der relativ gering digitalisierten Unternehmen 3.0 (knapp 40 Prozent realisierter und gut 21 Prozent geplanter Beschäftigungsaufbau) größer ist. Allerdings sind die Anteilswertunterschiede nicht auf den unterschiedlichen Digitalisierungsgrad zurückzuführen. [...]
