Abstract

Mit dem sukzessiven Ausscheiden der besonders geburtenstarken Jahrgänge der Babyboomer aus dem Arbeitsmarkt verändert sich die Bedeutung der erwerbsorientierten Zuwanderung für Deutschland sehr stark. Trug sie bisher vorwiegend dazu bei, Engpässe am Arbeitsmarkt zu vermeiden, wird sie nun immer stärker auch benötigt, um grundlegende gesellschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Strukturen wie das Sozialsicherungssystem zu stabilisieren.
