Verkehr auf der Autobahn: Schneller als 130 - Regel oder Ausnahme?

Abstract

Seit 50 Jahren wird über ein Tempolimit auf deutschen Autobahnen gestritten. Auch im aktuellen Wahlkampf ist das Thema wieder präsent, obwohl sein potenzieller Beitrag zur Einhaltung der neuen Klimaziele sehr überschaubar ist. Warum das so ist, zeigen Auswertungen von Verkehrszählstationen. Schon heute fahren fast 80 Prozent der Autofahrer auch auf den Strecken ohne Tempolimit langsamer als 130 km/h. Weniger als 2 Prozent sind schneller als 160 km/h unterwegs, davon wurde die Hälfte am späteren Abend oder in der Nacht erfasst.
