Abstract

Internationale Studierende leisten einen wichtigen Beitrag zur wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung Deutschlands. Die Effekte sind umso größer, je mehr von ihnen nach Abschluss in Deutschland bleiben. Unter plausiblen Annahmen bewirkt allein der Anfängerjahrgang aus 2022 von rund 79.000 internationalen Studierenden mit Abschlussabsicht langfristig einen Überschuss für die öffentliche Hand von rund 15,5 Milliarden Euro an Steuern und Abgaben. Dies zeigen Berechnungen des IW für den Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienst (DAAD).
