Veränderungen und Herausforderungen in der Phase des Mutterwerdens: Matrescence, Matreszenz, Muttertät. Eine Begriffsannäherung

Abstract

Die Geburt eines Kindes und der Eintritt in die Mutterschaft stellt ein signifikantes Lebensereignis für eine Frau dar, das mit wesentlichen biografischen Umbrüchen einhergehen kann. Mutterschaft beinhaltet einen Prozess des Mutterwerdens. Veränderungen und Herausforderungen im Prozess der Mutterwerdung sind vielschichtig und finden parallel auf mehreren Ebenen statt. Die Phase der Mutterwerdung wird wissenschaftlich aus verschiedenen Disziplinen mit entsprechend unterschiedlichen Perspektiven diskutiert. Dieser Beitrag verfolgt eine zusammenführende Betrachtung der Umbruchsphase des Mutterwerdens. Hierfür wird das aus den USA stammende Konzept der Matrescence in seinenGrundzügen nachgezeichnet, eine theoretische Verordnung vorgenommen und im Anschluss eine Begriffseinführung von Matreszens für den nationalen Diskurs im deutschsprachigen Raum angeboten.
