Abstract

Die politischen und wirtschaftlichen Reformen im ost- und mitteleuropäischen Raum haben auch das Verhältnis der Länder des Rates für Gegenseitige Wirtschaftshilfe (RGW) zu den Europäischen Gemeinschaften (EG) grundlegend verändert. Vor dem Abschluß der Verträge von Rom hatte die Regierung der UdSSR am 16. März 1957 an die Mitgliedstaaten der EG eine schroff ablehnende Note ' gerichtet. Darin wurde behauptet, die Gründung der EWG und der Euratom werde zur weiteren Vertiefung der Spaltung Europas, zur Verschärfung der Spannungen in Europa führen und zu einer Herrschaft der Monopole, die den gemeinsamen Markt zu ihrem Vorteil und zum Schaden der nationalen Industrie Frankreichs, Italiens und der anderen teilnehmenden Länder benutzen werden.
