Weltwirtschaft und deutsche Konjunktur: Interimsprognose im Frühjahr 2020

Abstract

Die Corona-Pandemie hat weitreichende Folgen für die gesamtwirtschaftliche Entwicklung in der kurzen Frist. Diese sind angesichts der abrupten Unterbrechung ökonomischer Prozesse in ihrem Ausmaß schwer abzuschätzen. Zum einen gibt es für die Reaktionsmuster kaum historische Vergleiche, zum anderen wiegt die Publikationsverzögerung der herkömmlichen Konjunkturindikatoren in einer solchen Lage besonders schwer. Beides erhöht die Prognoseunsicherheit und erfordert ein fortlaufendes Einarbeiten neu hereinkommender Daten in das Konjunkturbild. Das IfW-Prognosezentrum legt daher hiermit außerhalb des regulären vierteljährlichen Turnus eine Interimsprognose vor, die die seit der Veröffentlichung der Frühjahrsprognose (11. März 2020), dem szenarischen Update (19. März) und des Frühjahrsgutachtens der Gemeinschaftsdiagnose (8. April) eingegangenen Daten in einer für die deutsche Wirtschaft vollständig durchgerechneten Prognose aufnimmt. Dabei konnte insbesondere berücksichtigt werden, dass nunmehr deutlichere Anhaltspunkte für die Tiefe des Einbruchs zur Verfügung stehen und dieser mittlerweile überwunden ist.
