Zum Einfluss der Corona Pandemie auf den privaten Verbrauch

Abstract

Die zweite Corona-Welle und die damit verbundenen Maßnahmen zum Infektionsschutz dämpfen die Konjunktur in Deutschland vor allem über eine Reduktion der privaten Konsumausgaben. Die verfügbaren Frühindikatoren können nur sehr eingeschränkt Auskunft über den voraussichtlichen Verlauf der privaten Konsumausgaben liefern, da der quantitative Zusammenhang nicht immer sehr eng ist und die Konsumaktivität maßgeblich von den Maßnahmen zum Infektionsschutz - insbesondere den zahlreichen Geschäftsschließungen im Einzelhandel, Gastgewerbe und anderen Dienstleistungsbranchen - und somit auch vom weiteren Pandemieverlauf abhängt. Viele der derzeit geltenden Maßnahmen sind bereits im vierten Quartal umgesetzt worden und sind zudem mit den Maßnahmen während der ersten Corona-Welle vergleichbar. Grundsätzlich dürften deshalb die Erfahrungen aus dem vergangenen Jahr eine nützliche Richtschnur für die aktuelle Entwicklung der privaten Konsumausgaben sein. Vor diesem Hintergrund soll im Folgenden die voraussichtliche Entwicklung der privaten Konsumausgaben im laufenden Jahr abgeleitet werden.
