Zu den Folgen der Covid-19-Epidemie für die Weltwirtschaft

Abstract

Der Ausbruch und die Verbreitung des neuartigen Corona-Virus halten die Weltwirtschaft in Atem. Erstmal trat Covid-19, die auf den Virus zurückzuführende Lungenerkrankung, bereits Ende des vergangenen Jahres in der chinesischen Provinz Hubei auf und breitete sich zunächst nur in China aus. Bereits Ende Januar kam es jedoch auch zu Ansteckungen im Rest der Welt. Besonders hohe Fallzahlen wurden außerhalb Chinas vor allem in Südkorea und Italien gemeldet. Von den insgesamt 32 778 Fällen außerhalb Chinas waren laut Zahlen der Weltgesundheitsorganisation 7 513 bzw. 9 172 Erkrankungen auf diese Länder zu­rückzuführen (Stand: 10. März).
