Zur Rolle der irischen Zentralbank bei der Abwicklung der Anglo Irish Bank

Abstract

Die irische Regierung hatte zur Abwicklung der Anglo Irish Bank eine Bad Bank eingerichtet, die rund 40 Mrd. Euro Liquidität von der irischen Zentralbank zur Verfügung gestellt bekam. Rund 25 Mrd. Euro waren durch einen Wechsel, den die irische Regierung der Bad Bank ausgestellt hatte, gedeckt. Dieser Wechsel sollte nach und nach über die kommenden Jahre hinweg gezogen werden, korrespondierend mit den geringer werdenden Liquiditätsbedürfnissen der Bad Bank und hätte in vergleichbarem Maße zu einer Kreditaufnahme an den Finanzmärkten geführt. Zu Beginn des Jahres wurde nun beschlossen, die die Bad Bank zu liquidieren, wobei vorrangige Forderungen vom irischen Staat beglichen werden sollen. Nachrangige Forderungen hingegen werden vermutlich abzuschreiben sein.
