Mittelgroße und grosse Unternehmen in Deutschland: Volkswirtschaftliche Bedeutung und Situation aus der Perspektive der Unternehmensmitbestimmung - eine Analyse

Abstract

Mittelgroße und große Unternehmen (im Sinne der Unternehmensmitbestimmung) in Deutschland haben eine große wirtschaftspolitische und arbeitsmarktpolitische Bedeutung für das deutsche Wirtschaftssystem. Auch wenn die pure Anzahl großer (>2.000 Beschäftigte) Unternehmen (2018: 1.007) und mittelgroßer (501-2.000 Beschäftigte) Unternehmen (2018: 5.852) vergleichsweise gering ist, arbeitete dort 2018 mehr als ein Drittel aller Beschäftigten (11,1 Millionen von 30,9 Millionen). 22,2 Prozent des gesamten Umsatzvolumens entfiel im Jahr 2018 auf große Unternehmen (>2.000 Beschäftigte) und 19,3 Prozent auf mittelgroße Unternehmen (501-2.000 Beschäftigte); zusammen stehen sie für 42 Prozent des Umsatzvolumens der deutschen Wirtschaft. Das Wertschöpfungsvolumen dieser beiden Gruppen mit 25,5 Prozent (>2.000 Beschäftigte) und 20,0 Prozent (501-2.000 Beschäftigte) unterstreicht die nach wie vor dominante wirtschaftliche Bedeutung dieser Größengruppe von Unternehmen.
