Nur Teilzeit in der Kita? Arbeitszeitumfang und Beschäftigungspotenziale in der Kindertagesbetreuung

Abstract

Das System der Kinderbetreuung steht unter hohem Druck: In Deutschland fehlen Fachkräfte und qualifiziertes Personal, um den Bedarf zu bedienen und den Rechtsanspruch auf einen Betreuungsplatz zu gewährleisten. Die Studie untersucht, ob pädagogisches Personal in Teilzeit Potenziale zur Stundenaufstockung besitzt - und liefert auf Basis einer Untersuchung in vier Bundesländern Erkenntnisse über Motive und Beweggründe, die Arbeitszeit nicht aufzustocken, sondern beizubehalten. Mögliche Potenziale fallen daher gering aus. Wichtig ist also vielmehr die Sicherung der verbliebenen Stundenkontingente und die Vermeidung weiterer Stundenreduzierung, etwa über gesunde Arbeitsbedingungen.
