Abstract

Große Industrieunternehmen haben ihre Aufwendungen für Forschung und Entwicklung stark ausgeweitet, um der hohen Innovationsdynamik (kurze Produktlebenszyklen, Modellvielfalt, Digitalisierung u.a.) gerecht zu werden. Das birgt Risiken und ist sehr teuer. Auch deshalb sind viele Unternehmen verstärkt dazu übergegangen, Teile ihrer Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaufgaben an externe Ingenieurbüros zu vergeben. Diese externen Entwicklungsdienstleistungen sind heute für die immer komplexer werdenden Produktentstehungsprozesse nicht mehr weg zu denken. EDL erledigen Aufgaben von der Vorentwicklung, dem Design über Simulation und Testing bis auf die Ebene komplexer Komponenten und Teile. In der vorgelegten EDL-Branchenanalyse werden 76 EDL-Unternehmen mit zusammen ca. 93.500 Beschäftigten in Deutschland (weltweit ca. 222.000) erfasst und ihre Geschäftsmodelle sowie die Beschäftigungs- und Arbeitsbedingungen untersucht.
