Warum gehen die Leute in die Fußballstadien? Eine empirische Analyse der Fußball-Bundesliga

Abstract

Wir analysieren die Determinanten der Zuschauernachfrage in der Fußballbundesliga in den Saisonen 2001/02 bis 2004/05, d.h. für insgesamt 1224 Spiele. Dafür spezifizieren wir ein ökonometrisches Modell, das die begrenzte Kapazität der Stadien und Heteroskedastizität berücksichtigt. Es stellt sich heraus, dass alle fünf von Borland und Macdonald (2003) herausgearbeiteten Faktoren in spezifischen Ausprägungen für die deutsche Bundesliga relevant sind. Bei diesen Faktoren handelt es sich um die Präferenzen der Zuschauer, ökonomische Faktoren in Form von Opportunitätskosten, die qualitativen Bedingungen am Spielort und Spieltag, die Unsicherheit über den Ausgang der Meisterschaft und die Größe des Stadions in Form einer Kapazitätsbeschränkung. Dabei sind auch deutliche Nicht-Linearitäten festzustellen.
