Abstract

Das Ruhrgebiet befindet sich im Strukturwandel; viele Städte stehen noch vor den Herausforderungen der Umnutzung der alten Industrieflächen, dem Aufbau von innovativen und resilienten Unternehmensstrukturen und Bildungssystemen. Auch die allseits spürbaren Mobilitätsprobleme, die veralteten Gebäudebestände und der Bedarf an klimaresilienteren Grünstrukturen machen eine langfristige partizipative und integrative Stadtentwicklung notwendig. Vor dem Hintergrund der digitalen Transformation und der Digitalisierung der Bürgerprozesse, Verwaltungen und Schulen entwickelten einige Städte ihre eigenen - unterschiedlichen - Smart-City-Konzepte. Diese werden kurz dargestellt, verglichen und Erfolgsfaktoren herausgestellt. Gelsenkirchen, Herne und Dortmund sind auf dem Weg zu einer lernenden, nachhaltigen und energieeffektiven intelligenten Stadt.
