Abstract

Negli ultimi anni si è formato un consenso sia in campo accademico che fra gli operatori economici sul ruolo attivo delle politiche di sviluppo del territorio, intese come promozione e valorizzazione delle risorse locali. Tali politiche devono mirare a creare le condizioni ottimali per lo sviluppo di imprenditoria privata locale e per la localizzazione di imprese esterne, senza che il policy maker intervenga direttamente nella creazione e conduzione di attività produttive, se non in casi eccezionali. Nella promozione e valorizzazione del territorio le Agenzie di Sviluppo possono avere, e in alcuni casi di eccellenza in Irlanda, Francia e Galles hanno effettivamente avuto, un ruolo di primo piano nel promuovere la nascita e la localizzazione di imprese.
