Long-Run Movement Of Prices In Assam

Abstract

In a dynamic economy everything is subject to change. Change of prices along with other economic variables is a common feature of all the growing economies including Indian economy. The economy of the State of Assam being a part of the Indian economy is no exception to this. The present paper is an attempt to study the movement of both wholesale and retail prices and for different sections of the society over time and space in Assam. The study is based on the information of price indexes from secondary sources for a period of 20 years from 1974 to 1993 (both years included).
