Tourismusanalyse: Die Gäste kommen zurück, aber Teuerung dämpft reale Umsätze

Abstract

Trotz anhaltender Teuerung und insgesamt volatiler Rahmenbedingungen war die Nachfrage in Österreichs Beherbergungsbetrieben in der ersten Sommerhälfte 2023 stärker als vor der Krise (Ankünfte +1,0%, Nächtigungen +2,0%). Nicht nur Binnenreisende nächtigten von Mai bis Juli häufiger als im Vergleichszeitraum 2019 (+3,2%), sondern erstmals auch die internationalen Gäste (+1,5%). Für die gesamte Saison wird ein neuer Höchstwert von 79,8 Mio. Nächtigungen erwartet (Mai bis Oktober 2019/2023 +1,1%). Im Kalenderjahr 2023 könnte mit geschätzt etwa 150 Mio. Nächtigungen das zweitbeste Ergebnis nach 2019 erzielt werden (–1,7%). Die Tourismuseinnahmen dürften jedoch aufgrund der nach wie vor hohen Inflation sowie der zunehmenden Sparsamkeit der Gäste real spürbar zurückgehen und sich damit gegenläufig zur Nächtigungsnachfrage entwickeln.
