L'intégration régionale en zone CFA est-elle soutenable à long terme?

Abstract

Dans ce papier, nous étudions la soutenabilitée à long terme de l'intégration rrégionale en zone CFA en nous appuyant sur la théorie de l'endogénéité des zones monétaires. A cette fin, nous considérons le commerce et la migration intra-zone CFA comme les deux vecteurs quantitatifs de l'intégration régionale. En utilisant des techniques d'estimation robustes aux biais de simultanéité, nos résultats mettent en évidence une soutenabilité modérée à long terme de l'intégration en zone CFA. Plus précisément, bien que les unions monétaires dans la zone, en particulier celle de l'UEMOA, contribuent à renforcer la mobilité intra-régionale des biens et des personnes, elles peinent à induire une forte synchronisation des cycles macroéconomiques entre les pays membres hormis les cycles d'inflation.
