Analyse de l’évolution des revenus des femmes et des hommes après une rupture du couple dans 18 pays européens

Abstract

Cet article porte sur les effets d'une rupture sur les revenus des partenaires. Les variations de revenus mesurées sont celles des revenus individuels. Notre étude est faite à partir des données longitudinales du SILC européen pour 18 pays européens et relatives à la période 2004-2007. Les résultats montrent que les revenus individuels nets des femmes et des hommes augmentent après une rupture, principalement du fait d'une hausse des transferts publics perçus. L'estimation d'un modèle économétrique permettant d'identifier les variables individuelles et macro-économiques qui influenceraient la variation du revenu individuel net en cas de rupture du couple montre que cette variation augmente avec l'âge, l'éducation, la participation au travail et le taux de couverture des systèmes publics de garde d'enfants et qu'elle diminue avec le niveau de revenu avant la rupture. L'influence du type d'Etat providence s'avère difficilement interprétable. / This article studies the impact of partnership dissolution on individual net income. The variations that are measured are those of individual incomes. The analysis uses longitudinal data from the EU-SILC for 18 European countries covering the period 2004-2007. The results show that the individual net income of women and men increases in the event of partnership dissolution. This increase is mostly due to higher public transfers after the dissolution. Estimation of an econometric model to identify those individual characteristics and macro-economic variables that are likely to influence income variation in the event of partnership dissolution shows that individual net income increases with age, level of education, labour market participation and the coverage rate of public childcare systems and that it decreases with the level of income perceived before the break-up. The influence of the welfare state regime turns out difficult to interpret.
