'Please in My Back Garden': When Neighbours Compete in the Provision of Local Environmental Public Goods

Abstract

This paper models the effort exerted by neighbouring individuals as they compete for an environmental commodity which exhibits the properties of a mixed public good. Our motivating example is the levels of seed that neighbours dispense when trying to attract birds to their individual gardens for private enjoyment.
