Abstract

El gasto en medicamentos de alto costo está en discusión en el mundo, básicamente porque las estructuras institucionales de los países no han logrado dar una respuesta efectiva a un problema que puede llevar a los hogares a gastos catastróficos o a problemas presupuestales a instituciones o países. Este trabajo es una sistematización de la literatura, fundamentalmente económica, sobre medicación de alto costo, que abarca desde su propia definición, criterios que surgen de la evaluación económica, coberturas de los diferentes sistemas de salud, así como la experiencia uruguaya.
