La restauración de la riqueza en España por la industria. Reflexiones sobre el industrialismo de los arbitristas del siglo XVII

Abstract

El objeto de este trabajo es analizar las primeras propuestas industrialistas que vieron la luz en la Península Ibérica. Fue en el siglo XVII y se trata de los arbitristas que escribieron en Toledo, entre los que destacan Sancho de Moneada, Damián de Olivares y algunos empleados públicos, comerciantes y profesores de la universidad toledana. En primer lugar estudiaré las consecuencias económicas del descubrimiento de América según nuestros arbitristas para entresacar los problemas económicos que plantean esos autores en sus obras y pasar a continuación al estudio de las variadas soluciones propuestas. Entre las soluciones destacaré la del "grupo de Toledo" que confiaba en la Industria para solucionar los males de España, lo que da pie para el titulo de este trabajo.
