Mobilité intergénérationnelle au chapitre de la scolarité et résultats sur le marché du travail : variation parmi la deuxième génération d’immigrants au Canada

Abstract

Au moyen des données du Recensement canadien de 2016, le présent article porte sur le statut socioéconomique de la deuxième génération d’immigrants, dont la population est devenue de plus en plus diversifiée. L’analyse est axée sur les différences entre les groupes, selon l’appartenance à une minorité visible, dans deux aspects liés à la mobilité socioéconomique : 1) le progrès intergénérationnel relativement au niveau de scolarité, qui indique la capacité d’atteindre un niveau de scolarité plus élevé quelle que soit le niveau de scolarité des parents; 2) la relation entre le niveau de scolarité et les résultats sur le marché du travail, qui révèle la capacité de traduire les titres scolaires en bien-être économique.
