Les problèmes de santé mentale et les troubles neurodéveloppementaux font-ils obstacle à l’accès aux études postsecondaires?

Abstract

La littérature canadienne sur l’accès aux études postsecondaires a permis de relever bon nombre de ses principaux déterminants, dont le niveau de scolarité et le revenu des parents, le rendement scolaire et le sexe. Cependant, relativement peu de travaux ont examiné le rôle indépendant que joue l’incapacité dans l’inscription à des programmes d’études postsecondaires. La présente étude vient combler cette lacune en donnant une estimation de la relation entre les problèmes de santé mentale et les troubles neurodéveloppementaux qui sont diagnostiqués pendant l’enfance (données tirées de l’Enquête longitudinale nationale sur les enfants et les jeunes [ELNEJ]) et l’inscription à des programmes d’études postsecondaires au début de l’âge adulte (données tirées des crédits d’impôt du fichier sur la famille T1 [FFT1]).
