Explication du ralentissement de la croissance de la productivité dans le secteur canadien des entreprises après l’an 2000 : les questions de mesures importent-elles?

Abstract

La croissance de la productivité du travail et la croissance de la productivité multifactorielle (PMF) ont ralenti au Canada et au sein d’autres économies avancées après l’an 2000. Plusieurs questions de mesure ont été suggérées comme explications possibles de cette tendance : la mesure des immobilisations incorporelles au sein d’une économie numérique, la mesure du capital des ressources naturelles dans le secteur de l’extraction des ressources, l’effet du capital infrastructurel et l’effet des fluctuations cycliques de l’utilisation du capital dans les industries subissant les contrecoups de la demande mondiale. La présente étude porte sur le rôle que pourraient jouer ces questions de mesure dans le ralentissement de la croissance de la productivité observé au Canada.
