Abstract

Les travailleurs étrangers temporaires (TET) représentent une importante source de main d’œuvre pour le Canada. Leur transition vers la résidence permanente peut avoir des répercussions économiques importantes, notamment en ce qui a trait à leurs trajectoires en matière d’emploi et de gains. L’effet du changement de statut peut varier entre les différentes catégories de TET qui entrent au Canada sous des conditions et modalités différentes. La question de savoir si les résultats sur le marché du travail des TET changent ou non considérablement après l’obtention de leur résidence permanente est donc une question empirique. Fondée sur un ensemble de données administratives unique en son genre, la présente étude porte sur les trajectoires des travailleurs étrangers temporaires (TET) en matière d’emploi et de gains au cours des quelques années qui précèdent et qui suivent leur obtention du statut de résident permanent au Canada.
