Surqualification et satisfaction à l’égard de la vie chez les travailleurs immigrants et non immigrants au Canada

Abstract

Dans les ouvrages relatifs à l’immigration, la migration accrue de travailleurs qualifiés dans le monde a mené à mettre l’accent sur les coûts économiques d’un échec d’intégration au marché de l’emploi. On a, en revanche, moins étudié les conséquences de difficultés d’emploi, comme celles liées à la surqualification, sur des aspects du bien-être subjectif des immigrants. Malgré une surqualification pour une grande partie des immigrants, les études portant sur la relation entre la surqualification et la satisfaction à l’égard de la vie tendent à se concentrer sur la population générale. Ces études révèlent une relation négative entre la surqualification et la satisfaction à l’égard de la vie. Puisque les travailleurs immigrants et ceux nés au Canada (non immigrants) peuvent vivre la surqualification différemment, il est important d’examiner cette relation dans les deux groupes. La présente étude examine, par conséquent, la relation entre la surqualification et la satisfaction à l’égard de la vie chez les travailleurs immigrants et non immigrants au Canada ayant suivi des études universitaires. Elle tient compte, en outre, des différences de degré de surqualification pour chaque groupe.
