Transition de l’état de travailleurs étrangers temporaires à celui de résidents permanents, 1990 à 2014

Abstract

Le nombre de travailleurs étrangers temporaires au Canada a augmenté de façon considérable depuis le début des années 1990. Les travailleurs étrangers temporaires sont également devenus une source de plus en plus importante de résidents permanents admis au Canada au cours de cette période. À l’aide du Fichier des résidents temporaires et du Fichier d’établissement des immigrants, le présent article documente les changements aux niveaux et aux types de nouveaux travailleurs étrangers temporaires qui sont arrivés au Canada de 1990 à 2014. Il analyse également les schémas de transition de l’état de travailleurs étrangers temporaires à celui de résidents permanents, ainsi que les catégories d’immigration par lesquelles les travailleurs étrangers temporaires ont reçu leur résidence permanente.
