Profils et determinants du sentiment d'appartenance des immigrants au Canada et a leur pays d'origine

Abstract

La presente etude a pour objet d'evaluer les profils d'acculturation des immigrants, que l'on mesure d'apres le sentiment d'appartenance de ces derniers au Canada et a leur pays d'origine. Elle debute par l'examen de la repartition relative des immigrants selon qu'ils ont un fort sentiment d'appartenance a la fois au Canada et a leur pays d'origine, un fort sentiment d'appartenance au Canada seulement, un fort sentiment d'appartenance a leur pays d'origine seulement, ou un faible sentiment d'appartenance au Canada ainsi qu'a leur pays d'origine. L'examen porte ensuite sur quatre ensembles de determinants de ces profils d'acculturation, plus precisement les caracteristiques socioeconomiques et culturelles du pays d'origine, la situation des immigrants a leur arrivee, l'experience vecue apres la migration, et les caracteristiques demographiques.
