Evolution des caracteristiques des immigrants et de leurs revenus initiaux

Abstract

Au cours des annees 1990 et 2000, des modifications ont ete apportees aux politiques en matiere de selection des immigrants, qui ont eu pour effet de changer de facon importante les caracteristiques des nouveaux immigrants au Canada sur plusieurs plans, dont le niveau de scolarite a l'arrivee au pays, la categorie d'immigration, la region d'origine, l'experience de travail acquise au Canada prealablement a l'arrivee, et la repartition geographique. Les modifications aux politiques visaient principalement a ameliorer la situation economique des immigrants au moment de leur etablissement. La presente etude vise a etablir si les revenus initiaux des immigrants ont augmente par suite des changements aux politiques de selection des immigrants et, le cas echeant, a determiner les caracteristiques ayant le plus contribue a cette augmentation.
