L'avantage en matiere de gains des residents temporaires ayant obtenu le droit d'etablissement au Canada

Abstract

Bien que la majorite des programmes de travailleurs etrangers temporaires ne comportait aucune disposition permettant aux participants de faire une demande de residence permanente jusqu'à tout recemment, un nombre considerable de travailleurs etrangers temporaires ont obtenu le droit d'etablissement depuis les annees 1980. Par exemple, de 2008 a 2012, environ 32 000 travailleurs etrangers temporaires ont obtenu leur residence permanente chaque annee, ce qui representait 13 % des arrivees totales d'immigrants ayant obtenu le droit d'etablissement. Le present article examine les gains des immigrants economiques qui etaient arrives initialement en tant que residents temporaires et qui detenaient un permis de travail ou d'etudes, et compare ces gains a ceux des immigrants economiques qui sont arrives directement de l'etranger en tant que residents permanents.
