Prestations d'aide sociale chez les demandeurs du statut de refugie au Canada : donnees tirees de fichiers de donnees administratives couples

Abstract

Les demandeurs du statut de refugie ou demandeurs d'asile representent une part importante de la population de residents non permanents du Canada. Le Canada a accorde la residence permanente a environ 12 000 a 16 000 refugies chaque annee au cours de la deuxieme moitie des annees 2000, et environ 115 000 a 130 000 demandeurs d'asile residaient au Canada a un moment ou a un autre chaque annee au cours de cette periode. En depit du volume de demandeurs d'asile, on savait tres peu de choses au sujet des caracteristiques economiques de ces personnes jusqu'à maintenant. Le present rapport utilise de nouveaux fichiers de donnees administratives couples pour fournir des renseignements sur le versement de prestations d'aide sociale (AS) dans cette population. l'etude a permis de coupler environ les trois quarts de tous les demandeurs d'asile a des fichiers administratifs comprenant des renseignements sur le versement annuel de prestations d'AS.
