Taux d'emploi et participation a la vie active des Canadiennes vivant en milieu rural

Abstract

Dans le present article, un modele dynamique de l'emploi des femmes a ete estime a partir de l'echantillon rural et de l'echantillon urbain utilises durant les quatre premieres annees de l'Enquete sur la dynamique du travail et du revenu (1993 a 1996). Les resultats attestent qu'il existe des differences significatives entre les marches du travail rural et urbain. Cependant, contrairement a ce que l'on affirme souvent, ces ecarts ne semblent pas etre attribuables a un manque de garderies, a des differences relatives au rendement du capital humain ou encore a des attitudes plus a l'egard du role de la femme en milieu rural. Les resultats suggerent egalement une segmentation du marche du travail rural, des differences manifestes ayant ete observees relativement au taux d'emploi des femmes appartenant a un menage a faible revenu, comme en temoignent les resultats de la decomposition.
