Abstract

Ce document se penche sur le processus maturationnel des entreprises qui font leur entree dans une branche d'activite economique en construisant de nouvellesusines et examine dans quelle mesure l'amelioration de la performance de la cohorte des entrants est le resultat d'une selection qui elimine les entrants inefficaces oud'un processus d'apprentissage par lequel les survivants apprennent a ameliorer leur performance par rapport aux entreprises en place. La selection de meme quel'apprentissage sont mis en correlation avec la performance apres l'entree. Meme si la selection et l'apprentissage n'ont pas le meme effet sur le degre de croissanceapres l'entree, la selection en soi contribue davantage a la croissance globale d'une cohorte.
