Abstract

Le présent document porte sur l'adaptation de l'Ontario et du Québec à l'essor du secteur des ressources naturelles. Les prix plus élevés des produits de base, une appréciation du dollar et l'accroissement de la concurrence étrangère entre 2002 et 2007 ont entraîné une restructuration des économies des provinces centrales du Canada. La restructuration a touché tous les secteurs de l'économie : l'emploi et la production ont diminué dans le secteur de la fabrication tandis qu'ils ont augmenté dans les secteurs des services et de la construction; dans le secteur de la fabrication, des diminutions ont été observées dans la plupart des industries en Ontario et une réorientation des produits de consommation vers les biens d'équipement au Québec; le pouvoir d'achat a augmenté en Ontario et au Québec au fur et à mesure du rajustement des prix à l'exportation et à l'importation.
