Brechas de ingreso entre géneros: ¿Perpetuadas o exacerbadas en la vejez?

Abstract

En muchos países se han efectuado reformas a los sistemas de pensiones, desde sistemas de reparto a sistemas de capitalización. Una de las principales características de estos sistemas de capitalización es que son de contribuciones definidas y los beneficios están fuertemente atados al monto de estas contribuciones. Por este motivo, las diferencias de inserción en el mercado laboral entre géneros ya no sólo determinan la desigualdad de ingreso de las personas en su vida activa, sino también en su vida pasiva. Además, algunos elementos específicos al sistema chileno de AFP´ s, hacen que estas diferencias se suavicen, mientras que otros las magnifican en la vejez. Este artículo analiza por qué la posición relativa de ingresos entre mujeres y hombres al pasar desde su vida activa a pasiva empeora, y como los distintos elementos relacionados con el diseño del sistema y características laborales y personales, contribuyen a ello..
