Abstract

In der vorliegenden Expertise werden anhand ausgewählter Aspekte die Promotion und der berufliche Verbleib promovierter Geisteswissenschaftlerinnen und Geisteswissenschaftler in den USA untersucht. Darüber hinaus liefert die Studie einen Einblick in die systematische und umfangreiche Datenerhebung der Bildungsforschung in den USA sowie in verschiedene Reforminitiativen und Projekte in den Geisteswissenschaften. Durch diese zwei Untersuchungsebenen bietet die Expertise zum einen als ausländischer Exkurs im aktuellen ‚Jahr der Geisteswissenschaften 2007’ eine Ergänzung der deutschen Perspektive auf die Geisteswissenschaften. Zum anderen kann sie als Grundlage für weiterführende Überlegungen mit Blick auf künftige geisteswissenschaften-bezogene datenbasierte Bildungsforschung in Deutschland dienen...
