Abstract

In the context of today's world, facing older or newer dangers and threats, the EU is one of the greatest powers acting in the spirit of promoting stability and security for Member States and partners. Thus, in difficult times, a strong political-economic organization like the EU has had and needs a strategy covering the areas of security and defense. The European Security Strategy of 2003 and the Global Strategy of 2016 represent the EU's response to threats and challenges from outside and from within the EU. The content analysis of the texts of the two strategies shows an EU determined to support a firm commitment of an initially politico-economic organization that evolves into a comprehensive one that includes the components of defence, security and foreign policy.
