Russians’ involvement into system of social interactions

Abstract

The aim of the study is to reveal features of social interactions system in which various groups of Russians are involved in actual conditions. Focused consideration of the social interactions system is relevant in terms of Russians’ subjective well-being under instability of the recent years – both their emotional comfort and in the context of possibility to get help and support from social surrounding if necessary. The informational base of the study is the data of the survey carried out in 2023 according to representative sample all over Russia. The analysis of empirical data allowed to obtain the results describing the possibilities of trusting communication among Russians, the level of interpersonal and institutional trust in society, the dynamics of trust outside the closest relatives and friends circle and also opportunities and restrictions of Russians’ involvement into the system of social interactions which have resource significance. The main conclusions are the following: even though the most Russians have partners on trusting communication, a little more than 40% are characterized by significant number of such contacts; the level of declared social trust to representatives of “the closest circle” is quite high, but is significantly limited to state bodies; the dynamics of Russians’ social trust outside the closest circle of friends and relatives has negative character; about a quarter and a fifth of Russians, correspondingly are characterized by enlarged or high social opportunities of getting assistance. The direction of the further work on the survey theme is analysis of factors influencing the level of institutional trust, unity, and mutual support, directed at explaining of opportunities social environment enhancement.
