Building the Economics of Knowledge: A Roadmap

Abstract

This paper is the Introduction to Recent Developments in the Economics of Science and Innovation (Edward Elgar, 2014). The causes and consequences of the general efficiency of labor and the associated changes in the production, consumption, and distribution brought about by the introduction of new technologies in economic systems is a field of economic investigation of growth interest and widening activity in both research and teaching. Our views of the evolution of this field are summarized in this paper.
