Abstract

In the current society of globalisation and computerisation, where time and space are designed to maximize opportunities for consumption, it is necessary to find a new paradigm of social regeneration. The first goal of this work is to re-read the two phenomena in terms of human relationships, redefining the concept of time and space in a functional perspective to improve the multidimensional well-being of each person. Hence, the glocal approach will be introduced. The second goal of this work is to identify the channels through which the economy ‘from the bottom’, considered as the suitable tool to convey the paradigm shift, and education to this kind of economy, considered the only factor able to activate the change, can contribute to build a relational city. The description of these channels reveals the BES indicators – Equitable and Sustainable Well-being – can become the reference framework suitable for programming the social regeneration of our cities, responding to fourfold glocal perspective made out of responsibility, sustainability, multidimensionality and reciprocity.
