Purpose. To provide clear and complex definition of enterprise economic security system and describe its structure. Findings. The article deals with the issue of the enterprise economic security system formation to guarantee protection against threats of external and internal environment. The essence of economic security system is explained. Principles of its construction and functional components are classified. Special interpretation of this system decomposition is offered. Practical and social implications.It is emphasized that only clearly planned, coordinated organization of enterprise economic security system based on sound theoretical basis (science, policy, strategy and concept) is able to ensure its effectiveness. Originality/value. An author's interpretation of the decomposition of the system is provided: a set of objects and subjects, functional components, methods of evaluation, activities (processes and procedures) to ensure the enterprise economic security, used to the fullest guarantee of safety. This definition is useful both for practical and theoretical work in the field of enterprise economic security. Fig. 4, tabl. 3, ref.44.
