Abstract

This paper examines the employment effects of economic policies since World War II by analyzing data on output and employment and various studies on trade and industrial policies. It includes that Philippine output growth has been lower than selected neighbors and that this may be traced the countrys trade policies. It also finds that the during the post-war period, implicit factor substitution has gone against labor.
