COVID-19 y el mercado laboral de Lima Metropolitana y Callao: Un análisis de género

Abstract

Esta investigación analiza el impacto de las medidas de cuarentena por el COVID-19 en el empleo en Lima Metropolitana y Callao en 2020, con énfasis en las diferencias de género. Se utilizaron datos de la Encuesta Permanente de Empleo (EPE) para analizar las horas de trabajo semanales y los salarios por hora, considerando factores como la estructura del hogar y el mercado laboral. Los resultados mostraron una disminución en las horas de trabajo semanales tanto para hombres como para mujeres debido al COVID-19, con un mayor impacto en las mujeres jefas de hogar. Sin embargo, se observó un aumento en las horas trabajadas para mujeres con empleos esenciales y hombres en el sector formal. En cuanto a los ingresos por hora, las mujeres experimentaron una reducción significativa en contraste con los hombres. El incremento en los ingresos por hora se destacó en hombres con empleos esenciales y mujeres en el sector formal. JEL Classification-JE: J01, J02, J22, O17.
