Desertificación y producción agrícola: el caso de la microcuenca del Río Seco

Abstract

El presente documento tiene como objetivo estudiar la desertificación como un problema ambiental global que afecta de manera significativa a la población en el mundo y en particular a los pobres que ocupan parte importante de las zonas áridas. En este documento, se explica la situación de la desertificación en el Perú, el cual tiene 3% de su superficie desertificada y según INRENA, el 24% de la superficie del país se encuentra en proceso de desertificación. A pesar de esto, el conocimiento sobre el tema y su incorporación en las políticas públicas es limitado, por lo que se identifican los principales factores explicativos; se presenta el marco jurídico institucional y las principales acciones ejecutadas tanto desde el ámbito público como privado para atender el tema de la desertificación. Finalmente se desarrolla un caso de estudio sobre la base del cual se analizará la relación entre la desertificación y los cambios en el rendimiento en la agricultura.
